Wire Rope Electric Hoist

Cranes, Eot Cranes, Hot Cranes, Goliath Cranes, Grab Buckets,

Overview

The AMBAT ICONCRANES wire rope electric hoist is a complete, self-contained lifting unit combining rope drum, gear box, motor, brake and limit switches into one tested assembly, rather than parts sourced separately and bolted together. Built for floor, wall, ceiling, trolley and monorail mounting, it is the core lifting component behind every EOT, goliath and jib crane the company manufactures, and is also supplied as a standalone unit for fixed-point lifting applications.

Our Process

  • Conical-rotor three phase motor (440V, 50 c/s) with integrated mechanical brake release
  • Class F insulation to BS 2613 for reliable operation under sustained duty
  • Rolled and welded, precision-machined rope drum on large-diameter roller bearings
  • Built-in limit switches controlling top and bottom hook position, adjustable across the full range
  • Optional microspeed attachment - 1/10th of main hoisting speed, independent of load, for precision positioning
  • 110V pendant push button control as per IS specification

Benefits

  • Single-vendor accountability - motor, brake, gearbox and drum engineered and tested together, not assembled from mixed sourcing
  • Fail-safe braking - spring-applied brake engages automatically the instant power is cut
  • Every unit tested at 125% of rated load before dispatch, reducing site-commissioning risk
  • Flexible mounting (fixed, trolley, flexible trolley, extended trolley, crab, monorail) means one hoist family covers most factory-floor lifting needs
  • Microspeed option protects delicate or high-value loads during final positioning

Applications

  • Loading/unloading transportation vehicles through floor hatches or outside walls.
  • Feeding production machinery on fixed or trolley mounting.
  • Ship loading/unloading with extended/outrigger trolley configurations.
  • High-lift-height applications (furnace, deep-bay handling) via twin monorail hoists.
  • Precision positioning of delicate, bulky or heavy loads with microspeed attachment.

  • Warehousing & Logistics.
  • Steel & Metal Processing.
  • Chemical & Process Plants.
  • Ports & Marine Handling.

Why Choose Our Product

  • Every hoist is built and tested as a complete system, not assembled from generic parts
  • Fail-safe conical rotor brake design - proven, low-maintenance, decades-standard mechanism
  • Full mounting flexibility from a single product family, reducing the number of suppliers a plant needs
  • 125% load test before dispatch as standard, not an optional add-on

Manufacturing & Quality Process

Hoists are fabricated and assembled at the Ambernath (MIDC) factory, with the rope drum rolled, welded and precision machined in-house and mounted on large-diameter roller bearings for smooth, long-life operation. Gear boxes use precision spur gears machined from alloy steel, fitted with ball/needle roller bearings, and every unit passes rigorous inspection - including the 125%-rated-load dispatch test - before it leaves the factory.

Technical Specifications

Certifications & Compliance

  • Manufactured to IS specifications for hoist control voltage and duty rating
  • Motor insulation to BS 2613 Class F
  • Tested to 125% of rated load before dispatch - verifiable on request

Installation & Maintenance

AMBAT ICONCRANES installation teams can supervise a customer's own erection crew or execute the full installation, with commissioning covering limit switch calibration, brake torque verification and load testing. Ongoing maintenance is available through the AMC packages described on the Services page, covering brake adjustment, wire rope condition checks and limit switch calibration - the components most prone to wear on a hoist in regular service.

Accessories & Compatible Products

  • Flexible and extended trolleys
  • Crab assemblies (single/twin hoist)
  • Microspeed attachment
  • Control panels (see Automation Solutions & Panels)
  • Radio remote control (on request)

Frequently Asked Questions

Find technical specifications, operational deployment queries, and maintenance program details below.

Q1. What capacity range do your wire rope electric hoists cover?
Hoists are supplied to suit crane systems from light-duty (fractional tonnes) up to the full range used across our single girder, double girder and goliath cranes — confirm exact capacity for your application when enquiring.
Q2. What is microspeed and when do I need it?
Microspeed reduces hoisting speed to 1/10th of the main speed, independent of load, for precision positioning of delicate, bulky or heavy items — useful in assembly, mould handling or any lift needing fine control.
Q3. Can the hoist run on a curved track?
Yes - the hoist on flexible trolley configuration can negotiate a minimum radius of 1.5 metres, suited to material movement between adjacent bays.
Q4. Is the hoist tested before it's shipped?
Yes, every unit is tested at 125% of rated load on a single fall of rope before dispatch, and only passes inspection is it approved to ship.
Q5. Do you supply hoists as standalone units, not just as part of a crane?
Yes, wire rope electric hoists are supplied standalone for fixed-point or trolley-mounted lifting, independent of a full crane order.
